As a result of the disruptions caused in response to COVID-19, GTL is providing life and supplemental health insurance policy and certificate holders in New Jersey who have experienced a financial hardship with emergency grace period options.  During this time we will not cancel your coverage for nonpayment of premium as follows:

  • We will extend to 90 days, the grace period to pay life insurance premiums for contracts that were in good standing on March 1, 2020. You will have a period of at least 12 months in which to pay the premium due during the 90-day period, in equal installments.
  • We will extend to 60 days, the grace period to pay supplemental health insurance premiums for contracts that were in good standing on March 1, 2020. You will have a period of at least 6 months in which to pay the premium due during the 60-day period, in equal installments.
  • Extend to 60 days or 90 days, as applicable above, the period to exercise policyholder and contract holder rights and benefits under life or supplemental health insurance contracts.
  • A policyholder may elect the emergency grace period to begin retroactively to either April 1, 2020 or May 1, 2020.

The emergency grace period is not intended to change the terms of the policy or be considered a forgiveness of the premium. Rather, it is intended to provide the policyholder or certificate holder an extended grace period for the payment of premium due without penalty or interest.

If you are unable to make a timely premium payment due to financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, please contact GTL’s Customer Service Department at 1-800-338-7452 for further information.

We will also continue to post updated information on our website at www.gtlic.com, as it becomes available.
